Safety Personnel
Keeping participants safe is one of the most important aspects in the game of football.
To ensure a safe experience for our athletes and help our Safety Personnel feel confident before stepping on the sideline, please find a description for each role below. These standards reflect CDMFA’s commitment to safety, preparation, and support for everyone involved.
Team First-Aid (for flag divisions)
Team Trainers are designated by their respective clubs to provide the first layer of safety and care to their players for flag football team practices, games, and activities.
Requirements:
- Standard First-Aid CPR/AED Level-C (or its superior equivalent)
- Making Headway (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Safe Sport (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Rule of Two (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Vulnerable Sector and Police Information Check
- At least 2 years older than the oldest player participating in the event
Team Trainer (for tackle divisions)
Team Trainers are designated by their respective clubs to provide the first layer of safety and care to their players for tackle team practices, games, and activities.
Requirements:
- Sport Trainer Course (Sport Medicine Council of Alberta)
- Standard First-Aid CPR/AED Level-C (or its superior equivalent)
- Making Headway (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Safe Sport (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Rule of Two (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Vulnerable Sector and Police Information Check
- At least 2 years older than the oldest player participating in the event
CDMFA Staff Trainer
CDMFA Staff Trainers are designated by the CDMFA to add a supplemental layer of safety and care to the players. With their additional certification and education, they complement the designated Team Safety Personnel in CDMFA events.
Requirements:
- Education in a medical-related field
- Medical First Responder (Red Cross) or its superior equivalent
- Sport Trainer Course (Sport Medicine Council of Alberta)
- Making Headway (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Safe Sport (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Rule of Two (National Coaching Certification Program)
- Vulnerable Sector and Police Information Check
- At least 2 years older than the oldest player participating in the event
