The Edmonton Eskimos in a press conference given by Len Rhodes, have announced that they have donated, in partnership with Belairdirect 50/50, a total of $840,000.00 to community and amateur Football in Northern Alberta.
In terms of the Edmonton Junior Football, the Husky's have received $225k, the Wildcats $225k and Football Alberta $145k.
Out of the Football Alberta portion, $25k is earmarked for JP Bowl renovations and $20k is earmarked for the CDMFA to be broken down into 2 segments:
1. $10k for coaching development
2. $10k earmarked to start a tackle 7 on 7 program in the Edmonton area.
Neil Gerritsen, President of the CDMFA, had the following to say when told of the donation:"We have a very positive relationship with the Eskimos and are very fortunate for this support . On behalf of the CDMFA I want to thank the Eskimos for this support . We are very fortunate they recognize the good things going on in the CDMFA. We look forward to developing these projects in the coming year."
The U of A Golden Bears received $110k, and an additional $100k seed monies to create the U of A Golden Bears endowment fund.
The Eskimos Alumni Association also received $35k to support the many football initiatives they fund in Edmonton and northern Alberta.
